More than 1600 new cases of pancreatic cancer are recorded every year in Belgium. A cancer that has seen an increased incidence in recent years. The Brussels University Hospital (H.U.B) has therefore set up a fast track programme to screen and diagnose pancreatic cancer as early as possible, especially among risk patients. Patients are assured a cancer treatment, both surgical and with radiotherapy, using procedures at the forefront of innovations as part of a multidisciplinary approach.

16 October 2023 – After London and Hong Kong, it is the turn of the Erasmus Hospital to carry out the first endoscopic microwave ablation of a lung cancer in Belgium. Four lesions in three patients have already benefitted from this innovative and non-invasive treatment for lung cancer. New progress combining diagnosis and treatment that is of potential benefit to patients being treated for lung cancer.  

Brussels – November 2nd 2023 – This year as every year, the month of November is a month dedicated to increasing awareness of males cancers with the Movember campaign.  Although generally less aware of the fact, men are also at risk of developing a cancer at some point in their lives.  The chances of survival are nevertheless high if the disease is detected at an early stage. At the Brussels University Hospital (H.U.B), comprehensive and personalised care, from prevention to treatment, is available to each and every patient depending on his pathology. The expertise of the teams combined with the latest equipment make it possible to preserve the patient’s quality of life to a maximum.

On 25 October 2024 Brussels University Hospital will be celebrating 25 years of its Gamma Knife Centre.

Brussels, le 10 october 2023 - Thanks to improved screening and treatment, more and more patients are being cured of cancer. Nevertheless, the effects of the disease and its treatment can endure for months or even years after treatment ends. The Institut Jules Bordet has developed the RESTART programme, which offers patients with breast cancer in remission a multidisciplinary and personalised follow-up that combines consultations, physical activities, physiotherapy and educational workshops. More than 200 patients have already joined the RESTART programme.

Brussels,  29 September 2023 –   This year as every year, October is the month to boost awareness of breast cancer.  Breast cancer affects more than 10,000 women a year in Belgium, making it the number one cause of cancer deaths among women. Nevertheless, the likelihood of surviving breast cancer is high if the disease is detected at an early stage.  The use of artificial intelligence in breast cancer screening  is a significant aid for the radiologists at our hospitals. The Brussels University Hospital (H.U.B.), a grouping of the Jules Bordet Institute, the Erasmus Hospital and the Queen Fabiola University Children’s Hospital,  is more than ever committed to supporting the fight against breast cancer and continuing to innovate thanks to the new intelligent technologies. 

Calling into question present (child) psychiatry models, the Chair's work has made it possible to better understand the needs of young people during the stage of life when they are more at risk, to initiate specific pathways to compensate for the interruption of care and also to innovate and offer care adapted to young people at this pivotal age for their future and their mental health.
